Highland Drive Watermain Work - July 2 to 4
Update: 7/3/24 - The contracted paving company encountered unexpected delays today (July 3). As a result, this closure has been extended. The work initially scheduled for July 4 will now take place on Friday, July 5.
The Highland Drive watermain upgrade was completed several weeks ago. As previously communicated in a public notice, the final steps to finalize the project are scheduled for next week and will require the following road closures:
July 2, 2024
- The intersection of Victoria Street and Highland Drive will be closed to facilitate the abandonment of the old watermain.
- Transit impacts: Route A will turn around at the Jack Burger Sports Complex (JBSC) and return to travel west on Jocelyn Street, south on Victoria Street, west on Percival Street, South on Trefusis Street, east on Fraser Street and then continue usual route. Stop A28 at high school will not be serviced.
July 3, 2024
- Highland Drive will be closed from Victoria Street to the Jack Burger Sports Complex for paving preparation work. The Victoria Street intersection will remain open; however, short delays may occur due to preparation activities. Traffic flaggers will be present to assist with traffic flow.
- Transit impacts: Route A will turn around at the JBSC and return to travel west on Jocelyn Street, south on Victoria Street, and then continue usual route. Stop A28 at high school will not be serviced.
July 4, 2024
- The intersection of Victoria Street and Highland Drive, as well as Highland Drive from Victoria Street to the Jack Burger Sports Complex, will be closed all day to accommodate paving activities.
- Transit impacts: Route A will turn around at the Jack Burger Sports Complex (JBSC) and return to travel west on Jocelyn Street, south on Victoria Street, west on Percival Street, South on Trefusis Street, east on Fraser Street and then continue usual route. Stop A28 at high school will not be serviced.
The roads will be reopened upon the completion of the paving activities or as determined by the asphalt company. Please plan your travel accordingly and follow any posted detour signs.
