Filming in Port Hope
For the last decade, Port Hope has been a popular filming location for many productions such as Stephen King’s IT, The Hardy Boys, Murdoch Mysteries, and more. Our historic Downtown is a sought-after location for its pristine heritage facades and streetscape that offers a versatile backdrop for many different genres of film.
At this time, we have received interest from production companies for filming later in 2023. However, it is important to note that there has been no formal Film Permit Application submitted.
Residents are advised that film companies may be in contact with homeowners and/or business owners expressing interest in filming locations. The homeowner/business owner has full discretion on whether they choose to participate or not.
The presence of the filming industry in Port Hope has created many employment and business opportunities in our area. We have also seen an increase in Tourism during filming, attracting spectators from across the province.
That said, we understand that with its many benefits, filming occurrences can sometimes create traffic disruptions or inconveniences for residents or businesses. Any filming occurrences taking place on municipal properties or roads will be communicated to the public, in advance, through our website and social media channels.
