Youth Councillor Position Available
The Municipality of Port Hope is excited to announce an opportunity for youth to engage directly with local government by applying for the position of Youth Councillor. This role provides a unique chance to represent the voice of young residents and help shape decisions that impact our community.
Youth Councillor Mandate
The Youth Councillor will:
- Advocate for and represent the youth of Port Hope.
- Advise Council on recreational, social, and other issues important to the younger population and to strengthen community relationships through open and meaningful dialogue.
- Represent youth interests in the Municipality of Port Hope by advising Council and municipal staff where appropriate on matters pertaining to youth.
- Undertake any advisory duties as requested by Council with the common goal of making the Municipality of Port Hope a better place for all youth and ensuring that youth have a voice.
Qualifications
To be eligible, candidates must:
- Be between 13 and 17 years of age.
- Reside in the Municipality of Port Hope.
- Be enthusiastic, energetic, and community-focused.
- Commit to attending monthly Council meetings and participating in various events and initiatives.
Remuneration
The Youth Councillor will receive an annual honorarium of $400 for their term of office.

- Two references (teachers or employment references are acceptable).
