Your Voice, Your Choice. Last Four Days to Vote in Port Hope
As we head into the last weekend of voting, we’d like to remind residents that there’s still time to learn about your candidates and cast your ballot in the municipal and school board election.
Over the last several months, our election team has been dedicated to election promotions. Staff have carried out an extensive election awareness campaign to inform voters about how and when to vote and how to seek help in the voting process.
To do this we:
- Created a dedicated election website presence at porthopevotes.ca.
- Coordinated a Meet the Candidates webpage to help voters learn about the candidates.
- Implemented a robust social media awareness campaign.
- Advertised weekly in the local newspaper.
- Installed banners, billboards, lawn signs, TV screen signage, and posters at our facilities throughout the Municipality and, with the support of our industry partners, in our local businesses.
- Distributed information flyers to all students through the local schools.
- Handed out information postcards to patrons at our facilities and at local businesses.
- Aired local radio advertisements and interviews.
- Encouraged all front-line staff to wear election branded t-shirts at work.
- Worked with local retirement homes and long-term care facilities to ensure residents are on the Voters’ List and to assist with voting.
- Set up Voter Assistance Centres for in-person voting and election assistance.
- Organized a direct mailing through property tax bills.
It’s been a busy few months, and now it’s up to our voters. Help us spread the word this final weekend of voting. It’s your voice - your choice, Port Hope.
If you didn’t receive your Voter Instruction Letter in the mail, or require a new one, simply email the election team, call 905-885-4544 ext. 0 or visit one of our Voter Assistance Centres.
You can vote online or by phone and if you’d like to cast your online vote in-person or require assistance, we’re open this weekend:
- Town Hall (56 Queen Street) and the Port Hope Community Hub (5325 County Rd. 10)
- Saturday, October 22 and Sunday, October 23
- 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
We’re also open at both locations on Election Day, Monday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
