Walton Street Reopening Update
The Municipality of Port Hope is pleased to announce that the reconstruction of Walton Street (Phase 2) is nearly complete.
The festivities planned for this weekend, including the Candlelight Walk, Block Friday: Moonlight Madness, and Santa Claus Parade will proceed as planned.
Crews will return next week to finish minor tasks and clean up the site. We are on track to reopen Walton Street to vehicle traffic by the end of the workday on Monday, December 2. At that time, John Street will also return to its regular one-way traffic flow. Additionally, garbage collection in the downtown area will resume as usual following the street reopening.
Transit services will remain free until December 31, 2024. Starting Wednesday, December 4, the transit route will return to its regular path along Walton Street, following the completion of reconstruction.
We will continue to provide updates on our website and social media channels. Should any changes occur over the weekend, we are prepared to issue further notifications.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation throughout this project. We look forward to welcoming residents and visitors back to an improved and more accessible downtown.
