Walton Street Reconstruction - Mid-project Progress Update
The Municipality is providing an important progress update on the Walton Street project as it passes the halfway point. Concerns have been raised within the community regarding significant project delays. The Municipality assures that these concerns are unfounded.
As with any building or construction project, minor delays have been encountered. These include:
- Additional time required for the Bell infrastructure.
- Challenging work on the removal of bedrock.
- Significant rainfall in July causing brief interruptions.
Despite these setbacks, the project remains on schedule for a November opening for both vehicle and pedestrian access. This target has been maintained since the project's inception. To address these delays, additional crews have been brought in as needed, and we will continue to advocate for this additional support when appropriate.
Should any further delays be experienced, the Municipality will promptly inform the community.
