Voting Period for the 2024 Ward 2 (Rural Area) By-election is Officially Open
Eligible electors in Ward 2 are reminded that the voting period for the 2024 Ward 2 (Rural Area) Municipal By-election is officially open.
Those who have not received a Voter Instruction Letter can still be added to the Voters’ List. Contact staff by email or call 905-885-4544 ext. 0
Voting Period:
The voting period is open from June 1, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. until June 6, 2024 until 8:00 p.m.
How to Vote:
Voting in the Ward 2 (Rural Area) By-election is conducted online or by phone.
- Each voter requires a Voter Instruction Letter (VIL).
- Included in the VIL is a secure website address as well as a phone number. Voters must use one of these methods cast a vote in the By-election.
- You may also vote in person (online, using secure technology) at a Voter Assistance Centre at Fire Station 3 (3585 Ganaraska Road) or the Port Hope Community Hub (5325 County Road 10).
Every eligible voter must have their Personal Identification Number (PIN) to vote. These PINs are unique to each voter and can only be used once. Your PIN is provided in your Voter Instruction Letter.

Election Results:
Polls will close at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2024. After the results have been tallied and verified, the results will be announced in-person in Council Chambers (56 Queen St., Port Hope), live-streamed on the municipal YouTube channel, and posted online on our website at porthope.ca/by-election and on our Instagram and Facebook channels.
