Upcoming Closures for Capital Roads Projects
Residents are advised that two of the Capital Roads Projects approved in the 2023 Budget, are beginning this month. Please be advised of the following impacts:
Walker Road Reconstruction
The south portion of Walker Road will be closed beginning Monday, August 14, as construction crews prepare the area. This closure is anticipated to last through September. Crews will be removing the current asphalt, reconstructing the road and guiderail, improving storm drainage, and conducting erosion control and creek alignment. Please follow the marked detour route during this construction.
Lake Street Reconstruction
The portion of Lake Street in front of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (and along the Sculthorpe Marsh) will be closed beginning Monday, August 21, until approximately late 2023. This closure will be restricted to local traffic and emergency access only. Weir Manufacturing process or deliveries and CNL work at the Chemetron Lagoon, will not be affected by these closures.
This work is to accommodate much needed improvement to the sewer system infrastructure. Crews will be replacing old pipes with new, larger PVC pipes to accommodate the growing community. During this work, there will also be improvements made on site at the Wastewater Treatment Plant to connect these new pipes to the facility.
A reminder that Sylvan Glen Road is also closed for the replacement of the Sylvan Glen Bridge (also a Capital Project approved in the 2023 Budget). Please be mindful of construction crews in these areas during these important improvements.
For questions or concerns regarding these projects, please contact our Works and Engineering team by email or by phone at 905-885-8760.
