The flags at Town Hall and the fire stations are lowered to the half mast position today (Sunday, April 16, 2023), in honour of Edrick “Ed” Coull, who passed away on April 1, 2023.
Ed was a long-serving and dedicated Firefighter in our community. He originally joined the Hope Township Fire Service in 1979 and served as Chief in 1991. Later, Ed transitioned to the position of Firefighter for the Municipality of Port Hope before becoming a captain and then senior captain. After 35 years of service to Hope Township and the Municipality of Port Hope, Ed retired in 2014.
Ed also served for many decades as a Pound Keeper (large animal), a Fence Viewer, and a Livestock Evaluator for Hope Township and served on the Property Standards Committee for the Municipality of Port Hope.
