Traffic Disruptions – August 31 and September 1
The Municipality has just received notice that CP Rail will undertake significant construction work along the CP tracks, spanning the length of the CP Rail train trestle*. This rail work includes a large crew from CP Rail and will impact traffic flow below the CP Rail trestles, from John Street to King Street on August 31 and September 1, 2021.
*The CP Rail trestle is located north of the CN Rail trestle.
The construction schedule is as follows:
Tuesday, August 31, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- John Street will be closed from Hayward Street to Alexander Street
- Intermittent traffic stops and limited access on Queen Street under the CP overpass
Wednesday, September 1, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Robertson Street will be closed from Queen Street to Mill Street (the bridge over the Ganaraska River)
- All access to the intersection of Mill Street South and Peter Street will be closed
- All traffic will be rerouted to one lane from Peter Street to Mill Street South using the northbound on-ramp (flag personnel will be on site to assist)
Electronic message boards will be placed well back from the affected areas informing of the lengthy traffic delays. While there will be limited access through the area, stoppages of traffic will be extensive, and residents are encouraged to avoid area and/or take an alternate route.
Thank you for your patience during this construction. CP Rail is a Federally regulated organization, and the Municipality is working quickly to support this rail replacement project, which will enhance rail safety and reduce noise pollution in our community.
