Tourism Strategy Engagement
Public engagement is now underway for the upcoming Tourism Strategy.
In a meeting on June 6, 2023, Council instructed staff to oversee the evaluation, recommendation, and possible adoption of a suitable tourism delivery model in Port Hope.
The Municipality has engaged In Good Inc. to examine leading practices in similar municipalities and suggest a plan for the delivery and financing of tourism in Port Hope.
A resident survey is available for three weeks to gather input from locals, business proprietors, and landowners in Port Hope. For more information and to take the survey, visit myporthope.ca/tourism-strategy.
All those who complete and submit the survey can choose to be added into a draw for 1 of 4 Port Hope Destination Prize Packages valued at $150 each. This prize package includes:
- A $50 gift certificate for your favourite Port Hope business or service (each winner will choose their own)
- $50 worth of passes to any of Port Hope's Parks & Recreation activities, facilities or events (including the Jack Burger Sports Complex and The Town Park Recreation Centre)
- One-week parking pass for anywhere in Port Hope - perfect when friends, family or colleagues come visiting!
Following the consultation phase, the consultant will review all the feedback from the survey, focus groups, and individual interviews to make recommendations on tourism delivery, which will then be submitted to Council. This initiative represents a chance for the community to offer their perspectives and help shape a tourism strategy that reflects Port Hope's future vision.
