Update 7/16/24: Cavan Street is now Open.
Please be advised that Cavan Street (from Highland Drive to Barrett Street) is closed due to a large overnight fire at the former File Factory (121 Cavan Street).
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and the road will remain closed while the investigation is taking place over the course of the next several days.
Heavy equipment will be on scene to assist with the investigation and to ensure adequate fire separation is maintained, if necessary. Out of an abundance of caution, booms have been placed in the Ganaraska River to catch any debris that entered the water as a result of the fire suppression efforts. Residents are asked to please avoid the area.
Recognizing the public interest surrounding this site, the Municipality is committed to keeping you informed and will provide updates as they become available. The Municipality is grateful for the efforts of the Fire and Emergency Services team and thanks our dedicated firefighters for their bravery and rapid response.
