Strategic Plan Update
Community engagement is underway to update the Municipality’s Strategic Plan. Background Information and a community survey is available on My Port Hope for public feedback.
In January 2023, Council held an open meeting with senior staff and an external consultant to begin the strategic planning process for this term of Council. During the meeting, they reviewed feedback that members of Council heard during the campaign period, one of the broadest forms of community engagement. Several common themes emerged including Housing, Economic Development, By-Law and Governance and Climate/Sustainability.
Typically, as each term of Council begins, plans are refined or refreshed, and Council sets priorities working within the general framework of the existing plan. The base plan is used as a starting framework and an iterative approach is used. Individual action priorities are also set reflecting the current Council’s priorities. The consultant was tasked with blending the priority list from the 2019-2022 strategic plan with the new priorities identified by Council.
