At the Council meeting on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, Mayor Sanderson made the following statement regarding the ongoing crisis in Ukraine:
“In light of the recent and tragic events taking place in Ukraine, the Municipality of Port Hope joins national and international leaders in denouncing political aggression. Our thoughts are with the hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians who have been displaced and are seeking refuge. We applaud the humanitarian relief efforts made by our Provincial and Federal governments and the global leadership and solidarity shown worldwide. For those who wish to support Ukraine, the Canadian Red Cross – Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal is accepting donations. More information can be found at redcross.ca.”
