Special Council Meetings – Tuesday, June 25, 2024
A Special Council Meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Town Hall, 56 Queen Street, Port Hope. At this meeting, Council will proceed into a closed session, in accordance with the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O., c.25 to review personal matters about an identifiable individual, including municipal or local board employees – Section 239(2)(b) and labour relations or employee negotiations – Section 239(2)(d). This is in relation to an Organizational Update from the Chief Administrative Officer.
That same evening, a second Special Council Meeting has been called for 5:30 p.m., where Council members will receive an update on the development of a Rail Safety Plan for the Municipality of Port Hope from The Loomex Group. This Council engagement session will be open to the public and include information:
- Regarding engaging with the community to improve rail safety by discussing and addressing gaps in communication and engagement.
- Researching how rail lines affect communities and facilitating discussions, whether in meetings or online, to collaborate on rail projects.
- Sharing information about how proposed policies and regulations impact the community, ensuring everyone is informed.
- Providing documentation to support the Rail Safety Program and delivering tangible materials to aid understanding and implementation.
At this session, Council members will also have an opportunity to provide feedback on the development of this plan.
