Residents are advised that a Special Meeting of Council will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. for Council to consider a new Procedure By-law for the Municipality of Port Hope.
The Municipal Act requires that every municipality have a procedure by-law for governing the calling, place, and proceedings of meetings. It is the key document that determines not only the rules for conducting meetings, but also sets out the overall governance framework.
A comprehensive review of the Procedure By-law for the Municipality has not taken place since July 2015. In December 2022, Council provided direction to staff to undertake a review of the Procedure By-law.
At the Meeting, Council Members will review a draft Procedure By-law for the Municipality of Port Hope and provide feedback and comments to staff.
The Special Council Meeting will take place in Council Chambers, at Town Hall (56 Queen St). The agenda and meeting links will be posted on the agendas and minutes webpage.
