Residents are advised that a Special Meeting of Council will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is for Council to consider annual performance evaluation options for the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). Council will consider a staff report regarding developing a preferred evaluation model for the annual performance appraisal of the Chief Administrative Officer.
Municipal administration is responsible for implementing Council’s objectives, delivering high-quality municipal services to residents and businesses, and being accountable for performance. The CAO position is the head of this administration, and the sole employee reporting directly to Council. Council is responsible for hiring and managing the performance of the CAO.
The Municipality of Port Hope does not currently have a performance appraisal process in place for the CAO position which was reinstated in late 2020 after being vacant for nearly five years. Council will review potential options for evaluation moving forward.
