Rose Glen Road Reconstruction Begins June 20
Residents are advised that the Rose Glen Road Reconstruction project will begin on Monday, June 20, 2022, and is scheduled to last approximately five months. This project has long been a request advocated by many residents over time. The work includes new traffic signals at Croft Street and Rose Glen Road, a multi-use path to accommodate cyclists and pedestrians along the west/south side, and a sidewalk for pedestrians along the east/north side of the road.
Temporary road closures
During this construction, the following roads will be affected:
- Rose Glen Road, Ward Street to Croft Street will be closed to through traffic
- Rose Glen Road, Croft Street to Phillips Road, will experience partial lane closures during working hours and restored to two-way traffic at the end of each day.
Tree removal and re-plantings
The reconstruction plan includes the removal of up to 15 trees as well as some other vegetation and tree trimming. The tree removal is required as part of the Rose Glen Road reconstruction, which will have a significant impact on the ability for residents to safely walk on a sidewalk rather than on the side of the road.
During the tree removal, there will be a biologist onsite to review each tree to ensure that no migratory bird nests will be disturbed by the removal. The project includes a re-planting strategy, which includes over 100 trees/bushes to be planted in the area.
Transit impacts
During construction, Bus Stop B12 (Transit Route B, Stop #12) at Peacock Blvd., west of Scott Court will not be in service. Transit users can board the bus at Stop B13 (Peacock Blvd and Quinlan Drive) as an alternate.
