Proposed Speed Reduction Measures - By-law Amendment
At the Committee of the Whole meeting on Tuesday, March 15, Works and Engineering Committee considered a report recommending several speed reduction measures. The proposed amendments to the Traffic and Parking By-law include the following speed reductions.
Proposed Amendments Prescribed Speed Limits
The below speed reduction changes are being proposed:
Current 80km/hr zone to be reduced to 50km/hr |
Rural areas:

Current 60km/hr zone to be reduced to 50km/hr |
Urban areas:

Current 50km/hr zone to be reduced to 40km/hr |
Urban areas:The speed limit within 150 metres of a designated Pedestrian Crosswalks is also being recommended for a reduction from the existing 50 km/hr. to 40 km/hr. This includes:

Urban areas:

Proposed Amendments for Restricted Parking
The below parking restrictions are being proposed:
- King Street (east side) from Peter Street to Madison Street
- Madison Street (south side) from King Street westerly to a distance approximately 30 metres
- Mill Street South (east side) from Shuter Lane to Madison Street
