The Municipality of Port Hope is pleased to announce that Multi-purpose Room 3, at the newly expanded Town Park Recreation Centre (TPRC), is now proudly sponsored by the Rotary Club of Port Hope. This generous contribution highlights the community's dedication to improving facilities that serve all Port Hope residents.
"With partners like Port Hope Rotary, we have not only expanded our facility but created an enhanced hub for connection, learning, and health," states Mayor Olena Hankivsky. “Thank you, Port Hope Rotary, for your invaluable support. Together, we are building a stronger, healthier, and more connected community where everyone can thrive."
The expansion of the TPRC aims to address the evolving needs of older adults, providing opportunities for them to participate, lead programs, volunteer, and contribute to advisory groups. This engagement not only enriches seniors' lives by giving them a sense of purpose but also allows the community to benefit from their talents.
"Social isolation among seniors is a significant concern, and this dedicated space can help alleviate that by providing a safe and welcoming environment," Mayor Hankivsky continues. "Inclusive and accessible programming is crucial, as studies have shown that social isolation can seriously harm health and wellbeing."
Multi-purpose Room 3, to be formally named after consultation with Rotary Club members, is a dedicated space that caters specifically to people 55+ and their programming needs. This includes a variety of inclusive and flexible activities such as chair yoga, dementia-friendly bridge, and social programs.
“The Rotary Club of Port Hope is pleased make a $25,000 donation to sponsor the large multipurpose room in the Town Park Recreation Centre Expansion Project,” adds Ron Tuttle, Director of Service Projects for the Rotary Club of Port Hope. “At Rotary, our commitment to service extends beyond mere words; it is a dedication woven into the fabric of our community. By supporting this project, we aim to enhance the quality of life for our 55+ citizens, ensuring that everyone has access to enriching recreational opportunities.”
