Port Hope Receives Funding In Response to 2022 Severe Weather Events
The Municipality of Port Hope is pleased to share that we are the successful recipient of funding from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry in the amount of $40,000 for debris clean up and tree re-planting as a result of the significant weather-related events that impacted the Municipality in 2022.
“This important funding will help offset the costs of continued debris clean up and, in particular, regeneration efforts of trees along our roadways and green spaces,” states Mayor Olena Hankivsky. “Significant weather damage to our Municipality, especially in the rural area, was catastrophic and we are grateful to the Government of Ontario and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry for this support for our community.”
The Ontario government is providing $5.5 million to small municipalities impacted by significant weather-related events in 2022. Funding will assist with the clearing of downed trees and other debris as well as forest regeneration to protect against future weather risks like forest fires.
