Port Hope Participates in Program to Digitize Marriage Licence Application Process
For Immediate Release
Monday, July 29, 2024 - Port Hope, ON
The Municipality of Port Hope is pleased to announce its participation in an innovative program initiated by the Ontario government to digitize the marriage licence application process. This new service, which currently has only a small number of participating municipalities, allows residents to electronically apply for a marriage licence, streamlining and improving the overall licencing experience for the community.
Through this program, applicants now have the option to conveniently complete and submit their marriage licence applications online. Once the application is successfully submitted, Port Hope staff will reach out to the applicants via email or phone to schedule an appointment to pick up their marriage licence and arrange payment.
This digitized process provides numerous advantages, such as enhanced efficiency and a more streamlined workflow for both applicants and municipal staff. Applicants can complete their applications before visiting Town Hall, leading to quicker and more efficient service when they arrive to pick up their license. Applicants do not need to be residents of Port Hope to have their marriage licence issued at Town Hall. Any Ontario
resident may apply and select Port Hope as their licence pick up location.
“We are excited to be part of this forward-thinking initiative by the Ontario government,” said Mayor Olena Hankivsky. “The digitization of the marriage licence application process reflects our commitment to leveraging technology to improve our services and enhance the overall experience for our community members.”
Residents can access the new electronic marriage licence application through the Municipality of Port Hope website. For more information or assistance with the application process, please contact the municipal office by phone at 905-885-4544 ext. 0 or by email.
The Municipality of Port Hope is dedicated to continually improving our services and ensuring that we meet the evolving needs of our residents. We look forward to the positive impact this program will have on our community.
