The Municipality of Port Hope’s Environmental Advisory Committee is hosting its first Sustainability Expo, a showcase of how community groups, organizations, and local businesses are implementing sustainable initiatives and activities. All residents and community partners are invited to explore sustainable living and nature-based solutions at the Sustainability Expo on Sunday, April 27, held at Port Hope High School (130 Highland Drive). This free, all-ages event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and will feature a wide array of local community groups, environmental organizations, and individuals dedicated to using innovative green and nature-based solutions.
“The Sustainability Expo is a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together, share knowledge, and learn from one another about practical and innovative ways to support a more sustainable future,” said Councillor Claire Holloway Wadhwani, who also serves as chair of the Environmental Advisory Committee. “This event showcases the incredible efforts of local organizations and individuals who are leading the way in environmental stewardship. I encourage all residents to attend, engage with our community partners, and explore how small changes can make a big impact."
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about local initiatives transforming the community, from sustainable gardening and energy conservation to waste reduction and green infrastructure installation. Visitors can participate in interactive displays, attend expert-led discussions, and engage with local sustainability advocates to discover how they can contribute to building a more resilient, sustainable future.
The Sustainability Expo aims to inspire attendees with real-world examples of how local groups and organizations can tackle environmental challenges by working together, highlighting the importance of community participation and the powerful role nature-based solutions play in creating a sustainable future.
