Phase 3 of Walton Street Reconstruction Begins
The Municipality of Port Hope reminds residents that Phase 3 of the Walton Street Reconstruction Project begins today, Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
Walton Street will be closed from Cavan Street to Pine Street. Fencing and signage will be installed, and construction crews will begin mobilizing equipment in the work zone and at the staging area located at 74 Queen Street. Temporary water line installation will also commence in the coming days.
At this time, only Walton Street between Cavan and Pine Streets is expected to be closed. All other downtown streets, including Queen, Cavan, Pine, Ontario, and John Streets, as well as access to the east end of Walton Street from Mill Street, will remain open. As the project progresses, some short-term closures may occur in these areas.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed by following official municipal updates at porthope.ca/Walton or on social media at @porthopedigswalton on Facebook and Instagram.
A reminder to those in the impacted construction area that garbage pick will continue as usual. Please clearly label your waste bins with your address and place them at the curb as you normally would. The Contractor will be responsible for relocating the waste to a designated pick-up spot and will return the bins to the curb outside your residence.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we continue to improve our downtown infrastructure.
