Demolition work on Block 2 of the File Factory, located at 121 Cavan Street, has commenced. For public safety, the portion of Cavan Street adjacent to the property will remain closed while the work is ongoing.
This project aligns with Council's March 2024 decision to approve a heritage permit for the demolition of Block 2 of the File Factory, as this section of the building was found to be structurally unsafe.
As previously communicated, the demolition, material removal and site clean-up are expected to take approximately one week to complete, although this timeline may adjust as conditions evolve. The Street will reopen to vehicular traffic as soon as possible following the work, and we appreciate your patience during this time.
