Important Information on Water, Wastewater, and Tax Bill Payments
With the ongoing Canada Post labour disruption, the Municipality of Port Hope is encouraging residents to seek out alternative methods for receiving and paying their tax and water/wastewater bills to avoid potential delays. You are responsible for paying your bill on time.
Alternative Methods to Receive Your Bills
The Municipality offers several ways to obtain your bill, including:
- eBilling – Sign up for ebilling and have your bills delivered directly to your email inbox, no mail required.
- Virtual Town Hall – Sign up for Virtual Town Hall to access, view, and pay your bills online anytime, anywhere. This simple, secure, and paper-free option puts your billing information at your fingertips 24/7.
- By Phone – Call the Finance Department at 905-885-4544, to speak with a staff member about your bill.
- In Person – Visit the Finance Department at Town Hall to request a copy of your bill.
Alternative Methods to Pay Your Bills
To pay your bill, the Municipality offers various payment options, including:
- Online Banking – Make payments through your financial institution’s online banking service.
- Telephone Banking – Pay your bill using your bank’s telephone banking service.
- In Person at Your Financial Institution – Visit your bank or financial institution to make a payment.
- Credit Card Payments – Pay your bill using a credit card through Virtual Town Hall.
- Pre-Authorized Payments – Sign up for automatic payments to avoid missing due dates.
- Drop Box – Place a cheque (no cash) in the after-hours drop box located on the front doors of Town Hall.
- In-Person Payments – Pay by cash, cheque, or debit in the Finance Department at Town Hall during business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).
Important Dates for Upcoming Water and Wastewater Bills
- Bill Preparation: Municipal water and wastewater bills are currently being processed and are scheduled to be prepared for mailing by December 24, 2024.
- Impact of Canada Post Labour Disruption: If the labour disruption continues on December 24, paper bills will be held at the Finance Office for pickup after January 2, 2025. (Note: Town Hall will close for the holiday break at noon on December 24 and re-open on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 8:30 a.m.)
- Due Date: Water and wastewater bill payments are due by January 16, 2025.
To avoid delays, residents are encouraged to sign up for Virtual Town Hall or eBilling before December 24, 2024.
