The flags at Town Hall and the Police Station have been lowered to the half-mast position in honour of William Arthur “Art” O’Neill who passed away on December 29, 2023.
Art was a long-serving member of the Port Hope Police Service for 32 years. With 22 of those years serving as Chief of Police. Art retired from service in 1986.
Art was a member of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police and the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police. He also formerly served as President of the Rotary Club of Port Hope.
The Municipality wishes to thank Art for his contributions to the community and we offer our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.
