Filming Downtown – April 14 to 19
As many have noticed, our beautiful Downtown is looking a little different again. These changes are only temporary to accommodate filming for the production “Fairview” that will be taking place on Walton Street and Queen Street
Residents can expect temporary parking impacts, road closures, transit re-routes, and intermittent traffic stops that may cause delays. Pedestrian traffic and storefront access will be maintained. Port Hope is still open for business during filming!
We are committed to keeping residents and visitors informed. Residents are advised of the following anticipated impacts:
Current to Sunday, April 14
Residents can expect to see prep work and set dressing taking place throughout the Downtown. Pedestrians can expect minor sidewalk delays and an increased presence of film crew members.
Sunday, April 14
Drone filming will be taking place. Streets affected:
- Walton Street (from Mill Street South to Ontario Street) and Queen Street (from Augusta Street to Walton Street)
- Full road closures: 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
- Parking impacts: No parking in the road closure
- Mill Street South and Walton Street intersection will experience intermittent traffic stops throughout the closure time.
Monday, April 15
Various scenes of vehicles and people on the main street, some special fog effects will be used. Streets affected:
- Walton Street (from Mill Street to Ontario Street) and Queen Street (from Augusta Street to Walton Street)
- Intermittent pedestrian delays: 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
- Full road closures: 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
- Parking impacts: No parking in the road closure
- Mill Street South and Walton Street intersection will experience intermittent traffic stops throughout the day.
Tuesday, April 16
Interior and exterior shots at a private business at 45 Walton Street. Streets affected:
- Walton Street (from Mill Street South to Ontario Street) and Queen Street (from Augusta Street to Walton Street)
- Intermittent pedestrian delays: 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
- Full road closures: 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
- Parking impacts: No parking in the road closure
- Mill Street South and Walton Street intersection will experience intermittent traffic stops throughout the day.
Wednesday, April 17
Drone filming will be taking place. Streets affected:

Friday, April 19
This date is reserved as a rain date. If for any reason, the weather compromises the filming on previous dates, this day will be used for filming. If this is needed, further information will be posted on our website.
Parking impacts
Residents are advised that parking will be extremely limited in the Downtown core from April 14 to 19. The production company will be arriving Sunday to occupy the Lakeland lot and begin controlling the Elias Street parking lots overnight into Monday morning. They will also periodically control some metered street parking spots. The remainder of the street parking spots are available and free to use courtesy of the production company.
Transit impacts
Transit service will begin a temporary re-route until the end of the Walton Street Construction closure, starting Monday, April 15. The re-routes are:
- Route A: Depart Town Hall proceed north on Mill Street South to Thompson Drive, then south on Ontario Street (new stop replacing A2 in front of the Ganaraska Hotel). The route will then continue to Maitland Street to Cavan Street and turn onto South Street to Pine Street to Walton Street and continue standard route. On return route Stop A34 will be moved West of Pine Street and bus will turn south on Pine Street and return to Town Hall. A35 and A36 will not be used.
- Route B: Depart Town Hall and proceed north on Mill Street South to Thompson Drive, then south on Ontario Street (new stop replacing B2 in front of the Ganaraska Hotel). The route will then continue on Maitland Street to Cavan Street and return to the regular route.
Additional information and reminders:
- All the above times are subject to change. Residents and visitors will be made aware of major changes as they occur.
- Filming events are interesting and exciting for many, but please do not impede the work being completed.
- The Mary J. Benson Branch of the Port Hope Public Library will remain open at its usual operating hours during the filming, and access to the parking lot next to the library will remain available for staff and patrons who request access from the traffic personnel handling road closures.
