Below is a summary of key items discussed at the Municipality of Port Hope regular Council Meeting held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020. The full agenda and staff reports are available on the Council Portal.
Pemberton Drive Extension
Council awarded the contract for the Pemberton Drive Extension to Behan Construction Limited in the amount of $897,179.36 (net HST) with the project funds to be drawn from the approved 2019 Capital Budget.
The Pemberton Drive Extension project involves extending Pemberton Drive from Fox Road to Henderson Street. The Pemberton Drive extension will create an east-west collector for the Business Park and will build on already completed work. This project will include a new roadway, street lighting, storm sewer, storm water management, sanitary sewer, and watermain construction.
Penryn Mason Homes public meeting location
Mayor Sanderson advised that there will be a change to the location of the upcoming Public Meeting for the Penryn Mason Homes development. Staff members are working to secure a space for the meeting and the confirmed location will be announced in the coming days. The meeting date is set for Tuesday, March 10, 2020, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The Mayor also advised that the Municipality and Mason Homes are fully aware of, and sensitive to the community’s concerns about the west end wooded lot on Victoria Street that may be affected by this subdivision expansion. He confirmed a commitment from the developer to address these public concerns. This recent development continues to evolve and more information will be available at the upcoming Public Meeting on March 10.
Civic Awards nomination deadline
In his community updates, Mayor Sanderson reminded the public that the deadline for the annual Civic Awards nominations is approaching. Applications may be submitted through the Municipal website at porthope.ca/civic-awards until March 5, 2020.
The Civic Awards Program sets out to recognize the broad range of elements that make up Port Hope’s inspiring culture, by acknowledging those who contribute time, talent and resources towards improving the quality of life in the community.
Minutes from this meeting will be available pending approval at the next Council meeting on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at which point they will become the official record of the meeting.
