Farmers' Market Opening
Residents are advised that the Port Hope Farmers’ Market Executive Committee has announced its opening this Saturday, May 16.
After meeting the requirements of the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit and obtaining approval from the Municipality for use of the Town Hall parking lot, the Market will open, with food-only vendors and under a strict set of guidelines and criteria from the Health Unit.
While at the Market, shoppers are reminded to abide by the following guidelines:
- Follow the directions/guidance of food market organizers
- If picking up food items on foot, practise physical distancing by staying two metres (six feet) from other customers and vendors
- Minimize time at the market. Prepare a list for efficient shopping/pick up
- If possible, use alcohol-based sanitizer after pickup at each vendor
- Avoid touching your face
- Wearing a homemade (cloth) mask is optional. Be aware that these masks are not medical devices and are not proven to protect the person wearing them from getting COVID-19
- After returning home, wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds
- As always, wash produce with running water before eating or preparing food
The public washrooms on the Town Hall grounds will be open for use. Physical distancing inside the washrooms must always be maintained.
Further, Farmers’ Market patrons are reminded not to gather or loiter at the Market. After making essential purchases, please return home so that others may attend, and large group gatherings are not formed.
