Daytime Warming Centre Opens at TPRC
Update: February 18, 2022
Residents may visit any of the following facilities during operating hours as a temporary space to find relief from inclement weather and cold temperatures. The Town Park Recreation Centre is no longer the only designated warming centre.
- Port Hope Public Library Mary J. Benson Branch, 31 Queen Street
- Jack Burger Sports Complex, 60 Highland Drive
- Town Park Recreation Centre, 62 McCaul Street
Residents are advised that the Town Park Recreation Centre will open for use as a daytime warming centre beginning on Friday, January 14, 2022, until further notice.
The Town Park Recreation Centre, located at 62 McCaul Street, is currently closed to the public per the government mandated order to close gyms and recreation facilities to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Staff have pivoted operations to accommodate a warming centre, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., to serve residents in need of a warm indoor space during the day. The warming centre will be contained to one area of the facility, and the building will not serve as a recreation facility at this time.
Municipal staff will be available at the warming centre during operating hours to assist with sign-in and COVID-19 screening. Masks are required for all persons in the building and will be available upon request.
