In response to recent trends that show a rapid increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations, the Province of Ontario will be returning to a modified Step Two of its Roadmap to Reopen on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. This includes temporary closures of public spaces within the municipality.
Recreational programs and facilities
All indoor recreation programs and activities are now cancelled. The Jack Burger Sports Complex and the Town Park Recreation Centre will be closed until the end of the provincial order.
No registration for in-person recreation activities will be processed until these new mandates are lifted.
Parks, trails, and playgrounds remain open, but residents are reminded to maintain physical distancing of at least two metres from people not in their household and to avoid gatherings of more than ten people outdoors.
Staff services and continuity of business
As the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to develop, our staff remain responsive to the changing circumstances.
Following the Provincial directive, municipal staff will be working remotely, where possible.
Municipal services will temporarily shift to no walk-in service. All municipal services will be available via email and phone. Some in-person services, such as issuing licences and permits, payments and oath commissioning are available by appointment. Please call or email ahead to access these services.
These measures will be assessed throughout this modified Step Two.
Building services and construction
Municipal building inspections continue to take place by appointment. There are no impacts to current construction projects at this time.
Municipal Transit service
Municipal transit, including the ROLLS service, continues to operate as scheduled. Enhanced cleaning measures continue on transit vehicles, per the usual protocols throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Library services
The Port Hope Public Library is closed to the public and offering contactless curbside service at the Mary J. Benson Branch. Visit the Library website for curbside pick-up hours and details.
