2022 Inductees to the Athletic Wall of Honour
In a small ceremony on November 29, 2022, the Municipality of Port Hope, in partnership with the Parks, Recreation, and Culture Advisory Committee, unveiled the new inductees to the Athletic Wall of Honour.
“We have many talented residents in Port Hope, and this is such a special event to honour sport in our community,” notes Julia Snoek, Director, Parks, Recreation and Culture at the Municipality of Port Hope. “The Athletic Wall of Honour allows us to pay tribute to members of our community who spend countless hours dedicated to their sport and in turn helps us build stronger, happier, healthier and safer communities.”
The new honourees, now with plaques on the wall, include Jennifer Mercer, Saul Glober, Ben Sokay, and Keith Boundy. Each new Honouree is from the Port Hope community or has contributed their valuable time to the betterment of sport in Port Hope.
The Athletic Wall of Honour, located at the Jack Burger Sports Complex, is a community-driven initiative that celebrates the achievements of local athletes by preserving the stories and histories of sport in Port Hope. In addition to the plaques, the wall includes a display case of memorabilia highlighting athletic achievements and historic collectibles, and an interactive kiosk for research on sports history, articles, and digital photos and videos.
The Wall of Honour is currently open for submissions. Residents interested in nominating someone for the Wall of Honour or volunteer section of the kiosk can find more information about the nomination process and candidate criteria on the commemorative programs page.
