Specialty Classes
Artistic/Synchronized Swimming
Artistic Swimming (known as Synchronized Swimming until 2017) is a combination of swimming, dance, and gymnastics. Swimmers perform elaborate moves in the water, accompanied by music, as a synchronized routine (either solo, duet, trio, or team of 4 to 10 swimmers). Artistic swimming is governed internationally by FINA, and has been part of the Summer Olympics since 1984.
Swimming in this sport requires strength, endurance, flexibility, grace, artistry, and precise timing, as well as breath control when upside down underwater. Routines involve teamwork and synchronization and are choreographed to music and often have a theme. All these skills will be practiced and improved throughout the season.
Our program is a member of Artistic Swimming Canada and we teach skills through Star Awards and Trillium Program. It is designed to gradually and systematically teach the basic skills of synchronized swimming. Participants can join these non-competitive programs.
