Our modified Summer Day Camp has started.  We are so excited! With many protocols and procedures to work through, our camp will be a bit different this summer, but are pleased to be able to offer a modified camp experience this season. 

2020 Summer Camp Information

The Municipality of Port Hope Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture has developed a camp program to follow Provincial guidelines and requirements from our local health unit. It is a responsibility not taken lightly and is our priority to ensure your child is safe, healthy and happy. In order to provide this service, there has been many changes to our traditional camp program that need to be enforced.

Specialty camps will not be offered this year.

Registration is now open on-line for the remainder of the summer and parents/guardians can register for as many weeks as they wish.  Or you can email daycamp@porthope.ca and a customer service staff will be happy to call you back to complete your registration.  Registration will close on the Friday before each week of camp.

Fee for Camp: $145/child weekly (no daily options this year)

Fee for Camp: $145/child weekly (no daily options this year)

What to expect:

  • The day camp program will be available to children ages 5 to 10 years old only at the Town Park Recreation Centre.
  • Day camp will be available from Monday to Friday.
  • Camp will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Camp hours are enhanced for this year for free to accommodate parents/guardians who need additional hours as extended hours are not available.
  • Registration is limited to 24 campers to meet provincial guidelines.
  • Campers will be assigned to a pod and the pod will stay together all week
  • Physical distancing measures will be enforced at all times during camp
  • Field trips and bussing are not permitted, therefore virtual field trips are being explored alongside other local options, including outdoor play and exploration.
  • Pre-screening and daily screening will take place
  • At sign in staff will be asking a few screening questions as well as will be taking your child’s temperature with a non-contact thermometer.
  • A parent or caregiver, over the age of 18 with knowledge of the participant's health, must be present at arrival each day of the program to complete the daily health screening form
  • Staff will be wearing face shields until participants clear screening. There will be markings 6 feet apart for parents/ caregivers to stand while waiting to sign in
  • Enhanced cleaning protocols

REFUNDS

Refunds will not be issued for days missed at camp or in the situation where a child is not able to return to camp due to behavior. Refund requests that are accompanied with a medical note will be processed.  

Registration is open for the remainder of the summer.

REGISTRATION

The Municipality of Port Hope Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture will be taking on-line or telephone registrations.  A staff member will contact you the Friday before the week of camp you are registered for to complete the pre-screening. Telephone calls and registrations for camp will be directed to Town Park Recreation Centre at 905-885-7908. The following steps will be in place for this process:

  • Parents/legal guardians are encouraged to make payment over the phone using a credit card or on-line. When a credit card payment is not available the following procedures will be implemented:
    • Parents/legal guardians are encouraged to put a credit on their account to be used for camp registrations to limit the in-person payments
    • Payment of cash, chq, or debit can be made at the customer service area of Town Park Recreation Centre Monday-Friday 9:00am-4:00pm
  • Customer service staff accepting payment will practice physical distancing (staying 2 meters away from the service counter). Physical distancing markers will be placed on the floors.
  • Staff will clean and disinfect service counter, pen, debit machine, any surface touched by parent/legal guardian after each use.
  • Staff will perform hand hygiene; wash hands using soap and water for at least 20 seconds or disinfect hands using alcohol-based hand sanitizer after each transaction.

Update Your Account

All participant, parent and guardian information will need to be updated at the time of registration. All parents who register their child for camp must read and sign off on the details of this year's parent handbook.
