Plumbing Permits
Northumberland County is responsible for plumbing inspections in the Municipality of Port Hope. You may use the forms on this page to apply for a plumbing permit. For all septic systems, please visit Northumberland County's septic systems page.
Please be advised that plumbing services now fall under the responsibility of Northumberland County. All plumbing inspections are booked through County staff.

Residential plumbing permit |
Fill out the Application for a Permit to Construct or Demolish for all residential plumbing projects. Once complete, email or deliver the form to the Building Services division, 5 Mill Street South, Port Hope. All residential plumbing permits are reviewed by the Municipality by counting the fixtures and entering them on the fee schedule. The fee is to be collected by the Municipality and the plumbing permit is to be issued by the Municipality. Inspections will be performed by Northumberland County. |
Industrial/Commercial/Institutional (ICI) plumbing permit |
Fill out the Application for ICI and Multi-residential Plumbing Permit form for all buildings that are industrial, commercial, institutional, and multi-residential. Once complete, email or deliver the form to Northumberland County Plumbing and Inspections division. All buildings are to be reviewed by Northumberland County for compliance with the Ontario Building Code. Once complete, Northumberland County will issue the Municipality with a fee schedule. The fee is to be collected by the Municipality and the plumbing permit can then be issued by the Municipality. |

It costs $150 to apply for a plumbing permit. You will also pay an additional $17 for each fixture. A residential water meter is $550/unit |
