At their final meeting of the year, Municipality of Port Hope Council approved the 2022 Operating and Capital budgets.
“This budget shows investments in areas important to the community,” explains Bob Sanderson, Mayor of the Municipality of Port Hope. “Council and staff remained aware of the fiscal challenges of the global pandemic, that are still ongoing in our community and maintained a fiscally responsible approach, while supporting the goals of the Strategic Plan.”

Government Mandated Facility Updates

On December 10, 2021, the provincial government announced they are taking action to protect against the Omicron variant. Some of the announced changes affect the regulations in our recreational facilities:
Youth aged 12 to 17As of December 20, 2021, youth aged 12 to 17 years will be required to show a valid proof of vaccination if participating in organized sports at recreational facilities. This new mandate will affect our Jack Burger Sports Complex and Town Park Recreation Centre.

The Municipality of Port Hope is pleased to announce that Todd Davis has been hired for the Director, Planning and Development position, following the retirement of former Director, Tom Dodds.

Director, Community Development Announces Retirement

Municipality of Port Hope Community Development Director Tom Dodds has announced his plans to retire at the end of 2021.
“It is my good fortune to conclude a 40-year career here in Port Hope,” remarks Mr. Dodds. “The Port Hope community is an extraordinary community with a legendary history and a highly engaged citizenry, who demand public transparency and get it.
