Update on the Wesleyville Lands Purchase

The Municipality received notification from Ontario Power Generation (OPG) that the province has stopped the sale of the Wesleyville lands in the Municipality of Port Hope from proceeding.
This notification is a last-minute change and was unexpected for Council and staff, who have been preparing for the closing of the sale, which was scheduled for Thursday, March 31, 2022.

Spring Burn Permit Reminder

As spring clean-up begins, residents are remined that open air burning is prohibited in the urban area of Port Hope. This includes outdoor wood burning chimneys, screened fire bowls or containers, fire pits, and barrels. Urban residents are permitted to use natural gas or propane outdoor appliances, provided they are listed for use in Canada and are installed following the manufacturer’s instructions.

New Coinless Parking Option in Port Hope

Residents and visitors in Port Hope will soon have a coinless option for paid parking. The HotSpot Parking App launches on April 1 and will be available for all metered and pay and display parking machines within the Municipality. Drivers will have the option to pay for parking from their smart phone by downloading the free app on both apple and android devices.
