Temporary Closure of the Town Park Recreation Centre

Residents are advised that the Town Park Recreation Centre will be closed for general access and inquiries December 6, 7, and 8, re-opening on December 9, 2022. This closure will accommodate gas lines, water, and electrical tie-ins as part of the Town Park Recreation Centre Expansion project.

Annual Emergency Exercise Takes Place December 1

Residents are advised that the Municipality of Port Hope will be participating in an emergency exercise on Thursday, December 1, 2022, to practice emergency management protocols, train staff and test emergency systems. The exercise will be taking place adjacent to the Cameco facility near the intersection of Choate Street and Marsh Street.

Special Council Meeting - December 5

Residents are advised that a Special Meeting of Council will be held on Monday, December 5, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. for Council education and orientation for the 2022-2026 term.
At the meeting, Council will proceed into a closed session, in accordance with the Municipal Act, and participate in an orientation session on the role of council, role of staff, department structures, and other information related to the onboarding of the new council.

Mayor Elevates Concerns to Premier Ford Regarding Bill 23

On Monday, November 28, 2022, the Provincial government passed Bill 23, More Homes Built Faster Act, 2022 in the Ontario Legislature. Municipality of Port Hope Mayor Olena Hankivsky expressed official opposition to the Bill in a letter to Premier Ford, voicing deep concerns.
