Caroline Street Rink Opening

The Caroline Street rink will open on Saturday, January 30, 2021. Due to the current COVID-19 related protocols in place, the following guidelines apply:
- All skaters must make a reservation for their skate time through our online reservation system (no drop-ins permitted).
- Participants are restricted to Northumberland County residents only.
- All skating timeslots are 45 minutes each.
- There is a maximum of 10 skaters permitted on the ice at all times.
- All skaters must wear a mask.

Virtual Fitness Programming

A mini 4-week virtual fitness session is starting on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. Choose from the following classes, all from the comfort of your own home:
- Yin Yoga
- Somatic Yoga
- Functional Fitness Level 1 and 2
Online registration begins Monday, February 1, and the fees are $20.00 for the session (HST included). (Note that due to the Family Day holiday, the class on Mondays is a 3-week session and will be pro-rated at the time of registration.)

The 2021 draft Leisure Services Master Plan is open for public review and comment.
The 2010 Municipal Leisure Services Master Plan (LSMP) has reached its 10-year lifespan and over 90% of the strategies and priorities are completed or ongoing as best practices.

The Caroline Street outdoor rink relies on mother nature to provide consistent cold weather in order to make ice. The rink does not have a refrigeration system. Our practice is to begin ice making when long range weather forecasts indicate daytime highs of minus eight degrees Celsius or colder for a period of five days or greater. On Monday, December 21, 2020, the Government of Ontario announced a Province-wide shutdown, beginning on Saturday, December 26, 2020 for a period of 28 days. As such, the following measures are being implemented by the Municipality.
