Road Closure due to Watermain Break on Cavan Street

Residents are advised of an emergency temporary road closure due to a watermain break on Cavan Street between Highland Drive and Bedford Street. Please avoid the area while staff work to repair the main.
While repairs are taking place, water may be at lower pressure than normal and rust may occur. The water remains safe for use.

As spring clean-up begins, residents are remined that open air burning is prohibited in the urban area of Port Hope. This includes outdoor wood burning chimneys, screened fire bowls or containers, fire pits, and barrels. Urban residents are permitted to use natural gas or propane outdoor appliances, provided they are listed for use in Canada and are installed following the manufacturer’s instructions.

At the Committee of the Whole meeting on Tuesday, March 15, Works and Engineering Committee considered a report recommending several speed reduction measures. The proposed amendments to the Traffic and Parking By-law include the following speed reductions.
