Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for our region, expected Wednesday (February 22) afternoon into Thursday. It is likely that significant, rapidly accumulating snowfall and low visibility will occur, along with snow and ice pellets with a risk of freezing rain.

Drinking Water System Receives Top Marks

Last week at Council, we learned that our Drinking Water system received 100 per cent compliance for the 2022 year. In Ontario, we are heavily regulated through the Safe Drinking Act and its regulations. As part of those regulations, the Municipality’s drinking water system is closely inspected by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation, and Parks each year to ensure that it complies with the Act.

Half-Load Restrictions Begin February 17

During the spring thaw, most rural roads become too soft to withstand the weight of a fully loaded truck, regardless of the number of axles.
To reduce damage to our roads during this time of year, weight restrictions of five tonnes per axle (half-loads) on all rural roads within the Municipality of Port Hope are imposed.
