Transit Changes to Accommodate the Walton Street Reconstruction

With the upcoming closure of Walton Street for phase two of the Walton Street Reconstruction Project, Transit Services will be implementing route changes beginning Monday, April 15, and will continue until the completion of the Walton Street Reconstruction project in the fall.
To ensure continued transit service, we have arranged for modified transit routes during this period. Please take note of the following changes:

Road closuresBarrett Street Bridge will be closed beginning Friday, April 12 at 8:00 a.m. until Saturday, April 13, at 6:00 p.m. for setup and preparation work.

Highland Drive Lane Restrictions for Watermain Replacement

As previously noted in November 2023, Staff identified, through routine fire hydrant testing, that an upgrade to infrastructure supplying water to select fire hydrants on Highland Drive must be completed. The Municipality has retained CIMA+ to complete the design for the replacement of the water main along Highland Drive (from Victoria Street North to the Jack Burger Sports Complex). Construction is currently set to start on April 15, 2024, and completion is expected in July 2024.

Filming Downtown – April 14 to 19

As many have noticed, our beautiful Downtown is looking a little different again. These changes are only temporary to accommodate filming for the production “Fairview” that will be taking place on Walton Street and Queen Street
Residents can expect temporary parking impacts, road closures, transit re-routes, and intermittent traffic stops that may cause delays. Pedestrian traffic and storefront access will be maintained. Port Hope is still open for business during filming!
