June is Seniors' Month! The campaign celebrates seniors who built this province and recognizes the contributions that they have made in their communities. The 36th annual province-wide initiative to celebrate older adults in our community will be taking place virtually this year. The theme is "Stay Safe, Stay in Touch". Older adults aged 55+ are invited to take part in a variety of fun online challenges each week. Submissions to each challenge should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org to be featured in a digital scrapbook. Let’s have some fun at home while we celebrate older adults in our community!
Seniors are invited to re-create a photo of themselves from the past. Find a photo from the past and use that as your 'template' for your new photo. Recreate the scene by positioning yourself in the same pose, wearing similar clothing or even using similar props to copy the original image. Remember to continue to practise social distancing while recreating the photo! If you aren’t able to recreate a photo, but would still like to participate, you can submit a past photo of yourself on its own. Submissions can be sent to email@example.com by the end of the week.

Re-create a dish that you remember from your childhood or teenage years. It could be a school lunch, family meal or trendy party snack that was all the rage. Submit your recipe and a photo of your creation to firstname.lastname@example.org by the end of the week.
In the information age, we tend to search the internet for answers to just about everything. Sometimes, advice is best obtained from actual people. Seniors are invited to submit a piece of advice that they would like to share with the younger generation. The advice can be on any topic of choice and you can choose to remain anonymous if you wish. Follow the template below and submit your advice to email@example.com by the end of the week.

Drop-in programs including badminton, pickleball, indoor shuffleboard, walking club, men's activity club and more. Register for some of our wellness or fitness classes including Zumba, Zumba Gold, gentle yoga, HeartWise Chronic Health Program, and seniors beat the clock.

The Ruth Clarke Activity Centre offers a variety of opportunities for members 55 years or older. Programs include scrabble, bridge, painting classes, chess, euchre, tai chi, darts, canasta and more!
