Residents are advised that the Municipality of Port Hope West Beach has been marked ‘POSTED’ by the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit.

Beaches marked ‘POSTED’ indicate that bacterial levels in the water are higher than those considered acceptable as set out in the Ontario government’s Beach Management Protocol, making them unsafe for bathing.

The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit provides weekly beach testing results for Northumberland County during the summer months. In 2018, testing will be provided weekly through the Labour Day long weekend.

Testing is based on the most recent test results from the provincial lab in Peterborough for water samples taken from beaches within Port Hope.

Inquiries about the water sampling and the government’s Beach Management Protocol can be directed to the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit at 1-866-888-4577 or by emailing info@hkpr.on.ca

*Residents are also advised that warning has been lifted at the East Beach.
