Choate Road Long-Term Closure Notice

The Municipality has been notified that the long-term closure of Choate Road will begin on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. This closure is to accommodate the major MTO infrastructure project taking place surrounding highway 401. Signage about the closure has already been installed in the impacted areas by the construction team for the Ministry.

Canada Day Road Closures and Parking Restrictions

Canada Day is fast approaching and residents are advised of the following impacts to accommodate this year's celebrations. 

Road Closures

The parade route has been adjusted this year due to the Walton Street Reconstruction Project. Residents are advised of the following road closures from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, to accommodate the annual Canada Day parade:

Filming Activities – July 2, 2025

Please note the changes to the July 2 schedule. The parking lot at 74 Queen Street will not be occupied by the film crews and Brewery Lane is longer being used. 

Shaftesbury Murdoch XIX Inc. will be in town next week filming scenes for an upcoming episode of Murdoch Mysteries. Filming will take place on John Street.

Canada Day Closures

Residents are reminded that municipal administrative buildings, municipal transit services, recreation facilities, the Port Hope Public Library branches, and the Hope Transfer Station will be closed on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 for the Canada Day holiday. All municipal staff services will resume at their usual operating hours on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
