SITE PLAN - 224 Ward Street

COMMUNITY NOTICE
Site Plan Approval Application for 224 Ward Street

As part of the Municipality’s ongoing efforts to improve communication with the community, we are pleased to provide notice of a Site Plan Amendment Application from Salter Pilon Architecture Inc. on behalf of the owner Extendicare Canada Inc. for the lands municipally known as 224 Ward Street. Two signs have been posted on the lands subject to the proposed development.

In 2013, NLG Port Hope Inc. and the Municipality of Port Hope entered into a Site Plan Agreement in order to facilitate the development of a high density retirement complex (179 units total) to be constructed in three phases (known as “Empire Crossing”).

In 2014, Phase 1 was developed which consists of a 4-storey building (64 units) along the west boundary of the property, parking area, landscaped areas, and a stormwater management pond.

The property was sold in 2017 to the current owner who is proposing changes to Phase 2 of the development. The proposed changes include the following:
• a new 4-storey building addition (59 units) along the northern boundary of the site
• minor alterations to the existing parking area, and
• a new access driveway off Rose Glen Road North.

A staff report and the draft Site Plan Agreement will be considered at a future Committee of the Whole meeting. Additional information relating to the Site Plan Approval (File No. SP05-2019) is available for review between 8:30am and 4:30pm at the Planning and Development Office located at 5 Mill Street South, Port Hope.
