Tender Open and Preemptive Work Beginning for Toronto Road/Victoria Street South Project

The tender process is now open for the watermain upsizing along Toronto Road and reconstruction of Victoria Street South. The tender closes on April 9, 2026, with construction set to begin in spring 2026 and major work expected to be completed by November 2026. Once a contractor is in place, more details and timelines will be communicated to the public. In the meantime, residents can expect to see prep work and surveying being completed in the area.

Bell Canada Infrastructure Upgrades – Walton Street

Bell Canada will be completing telecommunications upgrades on Walton Street, tentatively starting March 9. This work involves replacing aging copper lines and updating some newer lines that were installed during the Walton Street Reconstruction. During the reconstruction, most of Bell’s work focused on upgrading the underground infrastructure that supports their cables, they are now returning to update the actual lines.

Half-Load Restrictions Begin on Municipal Roads

During the spring thaw, most rural roads become too soft to withstand the weight of a fully loaded truck, regardless of the number of axles.
To reduce damage to our roads during this time of year, weight restrictions of five tonnes per axle (half-loads) on all rural roads within the Municipality of Port Hope are imposed from March 1 to April 30, 2026.
The restriction timeline may be altered as conditions are monitored.
