Port Hope, ON –The Municipality of Port Hope’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture will host a Seniors Information and Active Living Fair at the Town Park Recreation Centre on February 2nd from 10am-3pm. This event is hosted in partnership with the Older Adult Centres’ Association of Ontario and sponsored by the Ontario Seniors’ Secretariat.
This event is being organized to increase senior’s awareness of programs and services offered to them within our community. The trade show will consist of 50 businesses and organizations who offer services to seniors in relation to health, lifestyle, fitness, and aging. During the fair there will be free fitness demonstrations and educational seminars which will be open for anyone who wishes to participate. “The Municipality of Port Hope is committed to ensuring that seniors in our community can participate in activities and lead a healthy lifestyle. I want to make sure that seniors have access to opportunities so they can be active, educated and engaged. I hope this fair encourages seniors to try something new”, said Mayor Bob Sanderson. “Programs and events are guided by the Community Strategic Plan in being fiscally responsible, accountable and sustainable while supporting a healthy and active community by being open and responsive to our community”.
