For Immediate Release

Monday, July 31, 2017 - Port Hope, ON

The Ruth Clarke Activity Centre for Seniors (RCAC) will welcome the community back on Tuesday, August 1, opening at noon, after recent flooding from heavy rainfall in June closed the Centre for repairs.

“We are pleased with the outcome of the repairs and our staff is eager to welcome our members back to the Centre,” noted Jim McCormack, Director of Parks, Recreation & Culture at the Municipality of Port Hope.

While the repairs were taking place, programming was re-located to various facilities throughout the Municipality, which ensured the continuity of activities and events.

“The Parks, Recreation & Culture staff worked hard to minimize the disruption caused by the closure,” stated Councillor Jeff Lees, Chair of the Parks, Recreation & Culture committee. “I commend them for the incredible job that they did to ensure our programs continued throughout the month of July.”

A new schedule for activities taking place in August is posted on the RCAC website and questions about programming at the Centre can be directed to Emily McCormack, Interim Seniors Coordinator at 905-885-2228, emccormack@porthope.ca.
